What is OITAF?

OITAF (Organizzazione Internazionale Trasporti A Fune) was first established in Milan, Italy in 1959. The major aims of OITAF include promoting the growth and progress of transportation by rope, promoting studies and experimental work useful for development, harmonizing national regulations, drafting uniform international guidelines, and calling international conferences and annual seminars.

OITAF-NACS Membership

Membership in OITAF-NACS is on an individual basis. Associations, administrative bodies, corporations, firms, and others may be designated members, but they are represented by employees or designees who are members on an individual basis. The only requirements for membership are a sincere interest in the objectives of the organization and being current in payment of fees and dues. Please see the membership page to join.

Objective

The objective of OITAF-NACS is the advancement of the ropeway transport industry through coordination and the furthering of technical and economic studies and activities related to ropeway transport. This is accomplished by:

Organization

OITAF-NACS is governed by a Constitution and set of Internal Rules (Bylaws). English is the legal and working language of the organization. While independent of formal ties or obligations OITAF-NACS maintains close cooperative effort with the central organization, OITAF, and reports periodically to their Executive Committee.

Participation, cooperation and coordination with the Work Committees of OITAF is a primary activity of OITAF-NACS. This is accomplished by designees in OITAF-NACS working with a designated English-speaking member of each Work Committee in Europe. Five primary Work Committees are currently active:

Membership

Membership in OITAF-NACS is on an individual basis. Associations, administrative bodies, corporations, firms, and others may be designated members but they are represented through employees or designees who are members on an individual basis. The only requirements for membership are that a person have a valid and sincere interest in the objectives of the Organization, that he be of sound moral character and that he be current in payment of fees and dues.

Activities

OITAF-NACS is unlimited in the eventual scope of its activities within the ropeway transport field. In fulfilling the objectives of national and international coordination and cooperation, it may work with state and federal administrative authorities, operation associations, technical engineering groups, equipment manufacturers and others sharing the common interest of aerial ropeways transport.

OITAF-NACS has the dual role of national organization to coordinate and serve the aerial tramway interests of North America, and as a satellite organization to OITAF, to enhance the international efforts of rope interests throughout the world. The organization warrants the active participation and support of all aerial tramway interests in North America.
